Our compost begins right here in the Arcata community.
Each week, we collect food scraps from local households and businesses using our e-bike and trailer, diverting over 1,200 pounds of food waste from the landfill per week. Instead of becoming methane-producing waste, those scraps are transformed into a living soil resource.
We combine Arcata’s food scraps (nitrogen) with locally sourced wood shavings (carbon) to create the ideal balance for composting. Through careful moisture management, aeration, and time, the materials move through both mesophilic and thermophilic composting stages, allowing beneficial bacteria, fungi, and microorganisms to naturally break everything down into nutrient-rich compost.
The result is a hyper-local soil amendment that improves soil structure, increases microbial life, and helps plants thrive.

Once your order has been placed, we will contact you to coordinate a pick up time from one of our community partner sites. Please bring your own totes, used soil bags, buckets, or a truck to haul your compost in.
