The Full Cycle Team

Full Cycle Compost started as a small, bike-powered idea in Arcata and has grown into a worker-owned cooperative with a big mission: keep food scraps out of the landfill and return those nutrients back to our local soil.

By collecting food scraps from homes and businesses and turning them into rich, living compost, we help reduce methane emissions — a powerful greenhouse gas created when food waste breaks down in landfills — while building healthier soil for gardens, farms, and landscapes across our region.

Today, our diverse and hardworking team of co-op owners keeps the wheels turning (literally), building a people-powered system that transforms everyday food scraps into something good for our community. Behind every bucket and bike ride is a group of unique humans — each bringing their own skills, personalities, and strengths to the cooperative, but working toward one shared effort. Full Cycle Compost became a worker-owned cooperative as a way to keep the work, decisions, and benefits rooted in our local community. Instead of being owned by outside investors, the people who do the work — collecting food scraps, composting, and building soil — share ownership and help guide the future of the organization.

The cooperative model allows us to create stable, meaningful jobs while staying true to our mission: transforming local food scraps into a resource that nourishes our soils, gardens, and community.
